We sacrificed a young, midwestern writer last night. As his blood flowed over the bas-relief, my thoughts turned to my own unwritten books, and the oblivion that they live in. I wondered how many steps I would have to take into that oblivion before I was done. How many adulterers I would praise for their impeccable character, how many queers I would praise for their flagrant heterosexuality, or how many impotent men I would laud for their virility. We burned his body and the flames reflected the ambitions welling up in our eyes. We were going to dance naked but then we were all like 'nah, lets stumble.'
